This year, the cornerstone of the Community Diwali Festival is a special theatrical ‘under the sea’ production by an all-female cast.
Suvarna & The Secrets of the Sea
This production presents the story of a young goldfish named Suvarna. Her community is terrorized by a monstrous pod of whales that swoop in every so often and devour her friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
Guided by her mentor Tora the Tortoise, Suvarna sets out into the deep sea to retrieve a magical energy source. If retrieved, the energy source will help her drive the whales away once and for all. The journey is treacherous, and Suvarna knows not if she will return alive. Yet, she pushes forth with the courage and faith given to her by Tora. Suvarna’s captivating story captures many pivotal values for children, foremost being the role of hard work and faith.
